We are an integrative psychotherapy practice that supports you in creating a space for sustainable growth through behavioural intervention and emotional processing.

We aim to provide an authentic therapeutic experience where you feel understood and guided to construct a new meaning of yourself.

By recognizing your helpful and unhelpful ways of functioning, we will guide you in discovering new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Our approach to eating disorder psychotherapy focuses on sustainable change beyond symptom management, by increasing your awareness of your emotions. We walk alongside you as you learn skills to tolerate your emotions and to transform unhelpful emotions into helpful ones. Making sense of your emotions opens the doors to self-acceptance and more meaningful relationships and communication with self and others. 

The recovery process is full of beautiful and difficult ebbs and flows: just like life. 

Eating disorders/disordered eating, poor body image, and self-esteem issues are often accompanied by trauma, anxiety, mood imbalances, and other forms of distress. With each new stage of recovery and healing, we understand that your support needs will change. We are prepared to pivot with those changes to provide the very best care for each stage. 

With a focus on self-awareness and self-compassion, we allow you to breathe, and just be; to see yourself for more than your struggles. We guide and help you as you make sense of your experience; you are worthy of living and thriving. 

Understanding what is driving the behaviours and the emotional activations, allows us to guide you in understanding those connections. This approach creates active listening, understanding, and validation of the unexpressed and unprocessed emotion that is held in the body. This also allows the deconstruction of shame; shame holds you in negative patterns.

We embrace you and encourage you to do the same!

We tend to crave control over our lives – stuck in the cycle of trying to fix and mold ourselves. Instead, the Live Empowered Counselling experience discourages that “control over all” mindset and encourages just being with oneself. There is power in surrendering and being still in our current state. 

We believe in a non-diet approach, allowing you to trust your own intuitive wisdom and gain agency over your body.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Martina Nazartchyk

I’m a mix of empath and professional, continuing on my own personal growth journey! 

Have you ever felt like you’re holding your breath, waiting for someone to come along that understands you? Have you tried quick fixes or self-help tactics, but you leave feeling worse than when you started? Have you felt alone, desperate, and defeated? I have. As someone who has struggled with many of the things we treat, I know, all too well, how people suffering need to be supported. It’s not uncommon to be interrupted by obstacles that hold you back. As an empathetic and understanding practitioner, we will focus on understanding your emotional behaviour so that you can learn to respond differently to life’s challenges. 

While our experiences are different, I understand the emotions that accompany those experiences. I understand the deep-rooted fear and shame. And, I understand the complexities of each unique experience.  

I have a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counselling. I am also a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor. I have achieved EFT Level II. I believe that you are more than just your symptoms. With a focus on personal and emotional growth, we allow an opening for a deeper sense of self appreciation.

We believe that honouring you is the priority. Instead of trying to “fix” you, we honour and embrace you, so that you have space to construct a new meaning and understanding of yourself. 

Every person is on their own path. Working within that path is what makes each person we work with feel nourished and empowered to move safely through their own personal journey. 

There is hope for you to trust and support your body again and for your body to trust and support you. Our therapy approach is driven by compassion, authenticity, and human connection. 

HOW TO GET STARTED

Starting your healing doesn’t have to be hard! We’ve broken it down into three simple steps:

Phone Consultation

Start by booking your initial consultation. We’ll  establish if we’re a good fit based on mutual comfort levels and our confidence in our ability to support your holistic therapy journey.  

Therapy Sessions

During the initial sessions we will establish a deeper understanding of the fears, worries, and concerns you would like to move away from and the wants, needs, and desires you would like to move toward. Based on that, we will create a comprehensive approach for your treatment.

The Journey Continues

Beginning with weekly or bi-weekly appointments, we focus on your emotional, behavioural, and body-felt sensations. We work toward feelings of validation and visibility, as you move through your personal growth journey.
